Tuberculosis
The Florida Department of Health in Indian River County provides a variety of tuberculosis (TB) control services to the residents of Indian River County. Our primary service is to identify and treat to cure, by directly observed therapy, any residents that are suspected of or have active tuberculosis. This is done through a diagnostic evaluation consisting of radiographic exams, bacteriologic and symptom evaluations of those with positive tests (tuberculin skin test or blood test) and those who have symptoms consistent with active disease. Residents with Latent TB Infection (LTBI) are evaluated and treatment is offered to those who are at highest risk for progressing to active disease to prevent future cases of tuberculosis within our community. The Tuberculosis Program staff serves as a resource to our community partners.
For more information about our TB services, please call (772) 794-7472.
