DON'T WAIT TILL IT'S TOO LATE!
-Back to school physicals and immunizations-

Indian River County, FL - The Florida Department of Health in Indian River would like the community to know that now is a great time to think about back to school immunizations and physicals. The week before school starts can be the busiest time for physicals and back to school immunizations, so make an appointment now to beat the crowds.

Our clinics have openings now to help families get the needed immunizations and paperwork in preparation for the new school year. Bring your child's immunization record, if they have never received shots from DOH-Indian River. "New and transferring students, kindergarten students and those entering seventh grade are required to have immunizations prior to school entry.", Miranda Hawker, Florida Department of Health in Indian River Administrator stated, "Getting a jump start early is a great way to beat the rush." The first day of school in Indian River County is August 24th.

For physicals, please call 772-794-7415 to schedule an appointment. Gifford Health Center is open daily Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.). There is no appointment required for shots; walk-ins are welcome from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our pediatrics office is located at the Gifford Health Center, 4675 28th Court in Vero Beach. For those without Medicaid or insurance, a sliding scale fee will apply. Additional fees apply for EKGs, labs, and TB testing. Check to see what paperwork you need for back to school.
