DOH-INDIAN RIVER CELEBRATES THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY’S HEALTHY SCHOOL DISTRICT 2016-2018 AWARD

Florida Department of Health in Indian River County (DOH-Indian River) is recognizing the School District of Indian River County for their award as a Florida Healthy School District for 2016-2018. The School District of Indian River County received the Silver award. Forty-five Florida school districts have been designated either gold, silver, or bronze.

“As a community partner with the School District of Indian River County, we are proud to celebrate the school district’s achievement”, said Miranda Hawker, Florida Department of Health in Indian River Administrator.

By using the Coordinated School Health approach, the district has committed to meeting the health needs of students and staff by removing barriers to learning and making the most of district resources. The Coordinated School Health approach is made up of eight components which focus on providing a safe, healthy, and supportive atmosphere for all Indian River County children. The award is sponsored by Florida Coordinated School Health Partnership, Florida Action for Healthy Kids, Florida Association of District School Superintendents and Florida Healthy Kids Corporation.
