Indian River County’s Human Services program provides various types of financial assistance to residents of Indian River County. The Human Services office, located at 1800 27th St., 2nd Floor, Vero Beach, is a county assistance program aimed at reducing social and economic dependency by providing services to eligible individuals who reside in Indian River County. Assistance is provided for one-time emergency situations in which the applicant documents the ability to meet their economic needs in the subsequent months.
Services that are provided to eligible applicants are:
- Food pantry
- Prescription voucher
- Assistance with portions of utility bills or rent
- Assistance with indigent burial
Efforts are made to provide the maximum assistance possible to meet the minimum needs and to be consistent with the restoration of health and maintenance of an acceptable standard of living. All applicants need to provide:
- Copy of lease
- Social security cards for everyone residing in the house
- Photo ID
- All monthly bills
- Proof of all income
- Most recent bank statement
- Vehicle registration
This program provides short term temporary assistance. Individuals in need of long term assistance will be referred to the Economic Opportunities Council.
