Seafood Consumption

Environmental Health

Eating fish brings health benefits, because fish are rich in vitamins, low in fat and can help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Pregnant women should limit the types and frequency of fish they eat to reduce the potential level of mercury exposure to their baby.

For information on fish consumption and advisories, please visit the Florida Department of Health (DOH) Seafood Consumption webpage. The Florida Department of Health Fish Consumption Advisories webpage has valuable information for the consumer and is updated annually.

There is also a handy Get Fresh with Fla. Fish wallet card from the DOH that can be easily printed.
