World AIDS Day 2017

November 28, 2017

World AIDS Day is December 1st - Have you Been Tested?

Florida Department of Health is recognizing Friday, December 1st, as World AIDS Day.  Florida Department of Health in Indian River County is hosting a local World AIDS Day event on December 1st.  The event will take place from 9:00am to 1:00pm across from Colley’s Grocery Store located at 4426 33rd Avenue in Vero Beach.

At this event, we will be offering free HIV testing with rapid 15 minute test results, as well as free STD testing. Local speakers will be on hand to provide education on HIV/AIDS and answer questions about this topic. Participants will have the opportunity to get tested, learn about HIV/AIDS, visit community vendors and receive a door prize for attending.

John May, Florida Department of Health in Indian River County’s HIV Outreach Coordinator, encourages everyone to come out and get tested.  “World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died”, said May.

Florida has the highest number of new HIV cases in the nation. Now is the time to get tested and know your status. For more information regarding HIV and STD testing, contact John May at his cell phone number 772-473-5268, office 772-794-7477, or john.may@flhealth.gov.
