World AIDS Day Is December 1st - Know Your Status

Florida Department of Health is recognizing Saturday, December 1st, as World AIDS Day. Florida Department of Health in Indian River County (DOH-Indian River) is co-sponsoring a local World AIDS Day event with the Indian River County HIV/AIDS Awareness Network on December 1, 2018. The event will take place from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Tabernacle Ministries, 51 Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach.
At this event, participants will have the opportunity to get tested, learn about HIV/AIDS, visit community vendors and receive a door prize for attending.
- DOH-Indian River will be offering free HIV testing with rapid 15 minute test results, as well as free STD testing.
- Free health screenings provided by Indian River Medical Center which will include: Hemoglobin, Cholesterol and Prostate Specific Antigen testing.
- Free flu shots will be provided by Walgreens.
John May, Florida Department of Health in Indian River County’s HIV Outreach Coordinator, encourages everyone to come out and get tested. “World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died”, said May.
